Ever since Apple Inc’s Steve Jobs passed away on October 5th, 2011, the actual cause of his death has been a matter of intense speculation by the news media. At the time of his passing, Steve Jobs’ family did not specify the cause of Steve Jobs’ death, and simply noted that Mr Jobs “died peacefully today surrounded by his family.”
Yesterday, the Santa Clara County’s (California, USA) Public Health Department issued Steve Jobs’ Death Certificate in which it has stated the cause of Steve Jobs’ death. Steve Jobs died of respiratory arrest brought on by a “metastatic pancreas neuroendocrine tumor“.
In layman terms, this means that Steve Jobs’ breathing was stopped by the pancreatic tumor he had for the last 8 years. The neuroendocrine tumor is a less common, slower-growing and more treatable type of pancreatic cancer.
The Death Certificate also listed Steve Jobs as an “Entrepreneur”. But you and I know he was much more than that. Steve Jobs has literally transformed the lives of millions of people around the world with his products, vision and innovation. RIP Steve.
