British mountain climber Kenton Cool became the world’s first man to tweet from Mt. Everest. Unlike the 1st tweet from space, which had no corporate advertising whatsoever, Cool’s 1st tweet from Mt. Everest reads as follows.

1st Tweet From The World's Tallest Mountain!
Everest summit no 9! 1st tweet from the top of the world thanks to a weak 3G signal & the awesome Samsung Galaxy S2 handset! @samsunguk
@KentonCool ( Kenton Cool ), 06 May 2011
The expedition was sponsored by Samsung, with Kenton Cool climbing the world’s tallest mountain for a record 9th time with a Samsumg Galaxy S II smartphone stashed in his climbing gear.
Cool reached the summit on Friday May 6th and tweeted the first tweet with an @ reply to samsunguk
Wireless services operator Ncell (based in Nepal) installed several 3G signal towers near the base of the Mt. Everest back in October of 2010.
Cool also triumphantly stated
I’ve climbed Everest before but have never been able to share the exhilaration and excitement I experience when I reach the top with those back home.
Kent Cool has climbed Mount Everest 8 times before this and is also widely acknowledged as one of Britain’s most successful alpinists.
